In the wake of the senseless shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, on December 14, 2012, and in memory of the twenty slain first grade students, four of their teachers, their principal and school psychologist, Students and Teachers Against Assault Weapons was created in support of President Obama's emotional call for new proposals for reducing gun violence in America.
Students and Teachers Against Assault Weapons (STAAW.ORG) supports a ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines as a start to ending violence in our schools, places of worship, theaters, shopping malls and on our streets.
Students and Teachers Against Assault Weapons encourages students of all ages, former students, and teachers everywhere to fight for stronger gun control laws by signing STAAW.ORG's online petition, copies of which will be delivered to President Obama and Vice President Biden, head of the inter-agency panel.
STAAW.ORG does not accept donations. Donations can be made to the Sandy Hook School Fund, set up by the United Way of Western Connecticut, to the Brady Campaign, and to Demand A Plan (Mayors Against Illegal Guns).
