Petition Closed

Today we are confronted with an atmospheric emergency. Our atmosphere's necessary balance is close to a "tipping point" and increasingly getting worse. This acceleration has been caused primarily by human activity and, if continued, will result in a changed world that threatens human existence as we know it. Americans and the world as a whole, face impending climate catastrophe. If our federal government, as the trustee of the atmosphere, does not take immediate extraordinary action to protect, preserve, and restore the atmosphere back into balance, our children and our children's children will continue to suffer greater injury and damaging consequences.
By March 19, 2012, the Federal Government needs to prepare and adopt a climate recovery plan setting forth the means to implement the necessary national emissions reductions by January 1, 2013 to meet the following reduction trajectory: (1) not allowing United States carbon dioxide (“CO2”) emissions to exceed levels as of September 1, 2011; (2) prohibiting any significant deviation from the benchmark mitigation scenario of a minimum 6% annual CO2 reduction trajectory to return atmospheric CO2 levels to 350 ppm by December 31, 2099.

Letter to
President Obama and the Federal Government
I just signed the following petition addressed to: President Obama and Six Federal Agencies.

U.S. Federal Government to achieve a concentration of 350 ppm atmospheric CO2 by 2100.
