Ethan Shook started this petition to President Joseph R. Biden

Every year, hundreds of thousands of children, teens, and adults are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS with no decrease in sight. There are currently over 20.7 million people in east and southern Africa that are living with this sexually transmitted disease. Each year, Africa accounts for almost half of the worlds new HIV infections with there being almost a million in 2018 alone. You can start helping today by signing this petition and raising awareness for HIV/AIDS prevention in Africa.

Now, why would signing this petition be of any benefit to Africa and putting an end to this epidemic? In the past, multiple African countries have launched campaigns to spread awareness and knowledge about the dangers of these diseases and how the people of Africa can prevent them. These campaigns were proven to be successful and effective which means that the people of Africa need a voice of reason to help guide them through this epidemic.

This disease has been so devastating due to the fact that it has received inadequate priority and attention because this issue was ignored for so many years. Governments are finally realizing that this has become a serious issue and has destroyed many livelihoods and families. That is why we need to be the ones who start pushing for change and help out these governments and their people. America has an immense influence on many foreign countries which is why we can make the greatest improvement in their health. If we choose to do absolutely nothing, there will never be change and anyone from children to adults will continue to die at alarming rates and suffer from the agony of these diseases.

How would you feel if you were born into this world with a debilitating diseases that is carried with you throughout your entire life? That is what many children and families suffer from daily which drastically impedes on everyday life. But hey, we live in America not Africa right? Why should we help people who live thousands of miles away from us? Because it is morally right and being in the position that we are in, we should help those less fortunate and underdeveloped because if you were in their shoes, you'd want help too.
