As of October 10, 2021, after multiple attempts to ascertain information regarding Fall 2021 Commencement from many different offices on campus, we as students are just being told, "The format for the Fall 2021 Commencement is still under review."

We are seeking an immediate announcement that Fall 2021 commencement will be held in person with attendees. October 10, 2021, marked just two months from the declared date of commencement.

It is our opinion, however, that it is both unethical and immoral to require students to be in-person to attend all of their classes this fall and then revoke their ability to walk at in-person commencement with family and friends in attendance. It should also be noted that NAU home football games this fall had unrestricted attendance. Additionally, social distancing is not enforced on campus in any capacity.

At an in-person commencement ceremony, it would be pretty easy to take any and all necessary precautions the university requires to safeguard our community from further spread of the Novel Coronavirus.
