Dear President Biden, First Lady Dr. Biden, Champ and Major,

Please adopt a Black Cat from a rescue shelter to be the First Feline in the White House.

Black cats are the least likely to be adopted at the shelters. This is due to a myth that was started in the middle ages that black cats are considered bad luck. Each year at Halloween time this myth is reinforced. Yet, in many places like Japan, England, Scotland black cats are considered to be good luck.

Over the past few years black cats have become more popular, especially on social media. There are black cat accounts with millions of followers. Black cats also have several national holidays and special days. August 17th is Black Cat Awareness Day. Since BCAD was stared in 2011, the day has grown bigger every year with many rescues having free black cat adoptions. October is Black Cat Awareness month and October 27th is National Black Cat Day.

A black cat (or two) living at the White House would be a very powerful message that black cats are indeed lovable and adoptable and make great family members! A White House First Feline cat will dominate the Internet! Let that cat be a black cat!
