Can someone remind me how this is a Christian college? As an ordained elder in the RCA, I am embarrassed that any college associated with my denomination could be so unwilling to show love and compassion through acceptance of all it students. If we as a denomination strive for unity we must first realize we have set an unachievable goal, if our first action is to cut off any group we see as different. In Christ we are one - despite what church authorities may say! Trying to keep certain people out when God calls them in just doesn't work. Give into God's Love, it will be okay, God promises.

One of my daughters went to Hope. She came out as a lesbian her senior year. She was discriminated there.

It has become embarrassing to say I am a Hope College graduate. How can a liberal arts college maintain their homophobic stand and remain respectable in the academic world?

As Christians we are called not to judge but to love.

Judge not' lest ye be judged ... A "Christian" academy should practice what it preaches.

I sign this petition because it joins with other signatures toward change. As a Hope grad, I have been discouraged over the years about the administrations reluctance in adopting certain policies and measures that would put all students on the same plain.

I am the father of three Hope graduates. Mt wife and I are very active participants in Hope activities. I am very disappointed on the policy of Hope's administration in regard to GLBT students. GLBT students and neighbors are to be loved and accepted by everyone.

I am signing to support much loved friends and to support justice in all its forms. I have many fond memories of my time at Hope; openness and support around sexuality and related issues is not one of them. My hope is that this will help in creating a more supportive and encouraging environment.

I am an alumni who was asked to step down as a Bible Study leader my sophomore year in 1998. Many years have passed, and it is time. It is time to recognize what many of my friends had fought for years ago.
