             On April 11, 2019, the University of Tulsa "announced "reorganization that will reduce the number of certification programs from 196 to 112 and give a 2% pay increase to all TU employees". ( "Among the academic programs to be phased out are bachelor's of musical theater, theater and performance; doctorate and master's program in chemistry, geosciences, mathematics, physics and anthropology; all graduate programs in education; master's degree in women's and gender studies; master's of fine arts; and master's of law degrees in energy and Indian law." Id.


             I came to the University of Tulsa College of Law to earn a juris doctor degree and the Health Law Certificate. With only 18 credits remaining to complete the juris doctor degree, and of those 5 credits to complete the Health Law Certificate (if I had not been pulled from my summer courses), I would possibly have earned the J.D. Degree and the Health Law Certificate by this December!
            To be awarded the Health Law Certificate, one of the programs that was recently cut in the "reorganization" plan, I completed 13 credits, and the 5 credits remaining were to be completed during this year’s summer and fall semester. However, TU Law would do anything to cut awarding degree programs and certificates, including the students.


         Michael Orcutt stated in his petition some questions I can answer from personal experience, such as "Will this erode the quality of the professors hired?" Yes! "The Higher Learning Commission, an accrediting agency that visited TU last spring, noted in its report that university programs seems to be discontinued mainly because of faculty attrition rather than strategic decisions". (

        I signed and donated to the Saving the Heart and Soul of the University of Tulsa Petition, because I am of the 6% and strongly agree, "At the beginning of their academic journey, every student on this campus committed to the university of Tulsa. Now it falls on the university to commit itself to every student. Truly." 

            On May 29, 2019, I received an email from the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Karen M. Grundy, to be academically dismissed for failing the satisfactory academic progress, yet I wasn't even on academic probation! In the middle of my summer courses I secured weeks in advance through a competitive application process, such as the Judicial Externship with Judge Jane P. Wiseman, I was pulled for allegedly falling below the GPA requirement by 0.152. Among the entire pool of fellow classmates, I was honored to serve Judge Jane P. Wiseman, at the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals, but would be dismissed in a blink of an eye from one of the cut programs, and be gone as if I disappeared.
            On June 28, 2019, I first voiced my concern with the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, and reported the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and the Assistant Coordinator for Student & Fiscal Affairs, for violations of policies and was unsuccessful.

           Thereafter, I sent several petitions to the employee I reported, the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, for readmission. One petitioned that the spring course, LAW-6701-01 ELJ Year in Review, should be determined in the calculation of my grade points for the grade point average. The Associate Dean for Student Affairs, who also handles all the law school scholarships, denied the course receive a "letter grade that would have potentially affected your grade point average".
       However, the determination of grading policy is by the professor, and this decision is unsupported by the College of Law's official student handbook. To establish my academic creditability of being able to achieve the satisfactory academic progress requirement, the spring course that is being denied to receive points in calculating my grade point average is published with my editorial contribution at,
I received one of the highest honors as a law student, or lawyer, and was awarded for my "valuable editorial contribution to Environment, Energy, and Resources Law: The Year in Review 2018" from the American Bar Association, Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, at a beautiful banquet on April 17, 2019.                The next month I was dismissed by TU Law by forbidding the course to count for points in determining my grade point average, so why take the course if it did not help in calculating my GPA to complete the degree?
            Another petition to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, explained the failure to receive the spring 2019 financial aid disbursement on the date required caused me to start the spring semester three weeks behind, and provided two professors who could confirm the statement. My professors sympathized with my situation, especially with having my power shut off during the second week of the 2019 spring semester because of not receiving the financial aid and provided evidence.          Regardless, the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, would email me the notice of my petition to be denied for readmission, without even the possibility for academic probation, on August 26, 2019. Hence, only I would pay the consequential damage of TU's actions. On the same day I filed an online complaint to argue I met SAP, the reason I was dismissed, by using the law provided under 34 C.F.R. Section 668.34, "satisfactory academic progress". To my surprise, the Associate Dean for Student Affairs responded that SAP calculation applies to financial aid only, and not to academic eligibility.

*On May 30, 2019, I was billed for summer tuition but I was no longer a student. The Assistant Coordinator for Student & Fiscal Affairs, who I reported to the Vice Provost, handled the summer enrollment. On June 10, 2019, I allegedly received/contributed to a "Law Scholarship" for $6, 809.11, but that is impossible because I never had a scholarship and was not even a student!

*Was the "reorganization plan", the "planned student support upgrades", to downgrade credits, delay financial aid disbursement, and deploy unethical faculty to cut students in their programs, or all of the above with over-billing nearly $10,000 for tuition along with a scholarship never received?

           As the Supreme Court Justice of the University of Tulsa College of Law Student Bar Association, and President of the Latino Law Student Association, it is my duty by the power vested in me to bring this behavior to the attention of the community and my promise to seek justice!

           In order for me to retain legal representation and hold TU accountable, I will need your support!
