Nigeria has been described as the World Poverty Capital. A third world country solely dependent on oil exportation amidst dwindling global oil market price. There is no ongoing infrastructural, industrial or innovational activity. There is also little or no funding for Education, Research and Development. Four times, the country has gone into economic recession in 3 years. Consequently, millions of people have lost their jobs; joining fate with tens of millions who are unemployed. Hunger is ravaging millions.

In spite of the foregoing economic challenges, Nigeria still plunder over 60 percent of annual budget and national resources on payment of lavish legislative salaries and allowances. The situation is so bad that winning a legislative seat in Nigeria is seen as an opportunity to plunder public treasury, rather than a call to serve.
