There is a growing number of incidents of nudity and sexualised behaviours at funerals in our Zimbabwean community today.
Below are some of the incidences witnessed and supported by video evidence:
1. At Granville Cemetery in Harare a group of women stripped during the burial of their fellow sex worker. The women were later joined by men who fondled their private parts much to the shock of the decent citizens.
2. Some mourners at a funeral of Lawrence Masanga in Mutare "went naked apparently mimicking the deceased who was well-known for hiring the services of commercial sex workers".
One pair nearly had sex in full view of everyone else, according to the report. They argued it was "what the deceased... did and wanted" Condoms were thrown into the grave.
3. There was free sex galore in Mbare, Zimbabwe on Monday and Tuesday night as prostitutes mourned a serial thief by offering free sex to all mourners.
“We had no money to contribute in planning the funeral arrangements(chema) but we offered what we know best and male mourners who came for the funeral could get sex for free,” said one of the hookers who identified herself as Busi. Some of the women could be seen on video at the funeral wake dancing stark naked.
4. In the last few days there has been a video clip circulating, of a woman who is seen parading again stark naked on a graveside in full view of the mourners. She is apparently demanding money owed by the deceased.
This kind of behaviour is immoral and sets a bad example to future generations to come. This must be stopped before it becomes an accepted practice in our Zim society.
Please help sign this petition to persuade the Zimbabwean government illegalise this practice, arrest and prosecute any perpetrators.
