URI SAGA started this petition to President Dooley and

To be delivered to URI President David M. Dooley.

In 2013, URI students, faculty, and staff volunteers walked through all buildings of the URI Kingston campus. They identified bathrooms which were designated as Men’s or Women’s but could easily be changed to be gender inclusive. Despite support from President Dooley and URI maintenance, these changes never went into effect.

We would like the University of Rhode Island to change the designation marker of these restrooms to be Gender Inclusive by the Spring 2020 semester. Many trans and non-binary students are not given places where they can safely use the bathroom in many of their campus buildings. By signing this petition, you are demonstrating your support for changing these bathrooms and making a commitment to a more inclusive campus.
