Dear President Trump:

RE: Asking for your immediate  intervention in DR Congo.

I am writing with concern  about the situation in  my country the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC), and ask that  you intervene  in this situation with all possible means  to  address increasingly cruel and degrading treatment including  humanitarian crises , Mass atrocities and kidnapping that these innocent people are facing on a daily basis.

People of DR Congo were super excited with your election as president of the United States and president of the world, due to your great personality in fighting dictatorship and Governments perpetrating affront to its humanity. As you always say, “when a Government kills its innocent children, women and its own innocent civilians, this crosses a lot of lines”.

As you might be aware, Joseph Kabila decision to break the constitution and stay on power beyond his constitutional mandate has exacerbated the crisis in DR Congo. The  December 31st agreement between  the Presidential Majority  and a coalition  of political  opposition parties  brokered  by the National Conference  of Congolese Bishops (CENCO) included in  commitment  to hold elections  by the end of 2017. However , president Kabila  has refused  to implement all the agreement that were made in good faith,  by  killing innocent people, orchestrating massacres against the UN peacemakers,  and accusing for terrorists the innocent  population that are democratically requesting him to respect the constitution.

Moreover, the population of DR Congo have suffered for almost two decades with The Great war of Africa referred by Wikipedia as African World War. The Congo conflict has been dubbed the world's deadliest since World War II, causing more than 6 million deaths and millions of women being sexually abused.

The Government of Congo has gone far even killing 15 UN peace keepers and two United Nations investigators in March 2017 as they were attempting to look into allegations of human rights violations by the Kabila Regime.

The figures reported by international aid organizations and human rights organizations on the growing situation in DR Congo are disastrous and intolerable.

Sanctions imposed in 2016 by  the United States   and the European Union  at several strategic junctions provided much-needed leverage  to the negotiations  that resulted   in the 31 December accord, however , the Kabila regime have proven that they do not care with sanctions and  continue massacring its population without fear. If president Kabila and his government refuse to implement the spirit and letter of the agreement, I am requesting that you use all means at your disposal.

Finally, I am asking you take immediate action by using the extraterritorial power of the United States Law so that Joseph Kabila and his administration are brought to Justice, bearing in mind no one is above the Law. I am requesting that you play leadership role in forestalling a similar conflict, and stand ready to support a response that will save lives of millions of Congolese and result in accountability. The people of DR Congo will remember you as their Hero and God will bless you and your administration, for the Bible says in Proverbs 31:8-9: “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously; defend the rights of the poor and needy” and Proverbs 24:11-12. “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?”

I hope you will find time to read this letter and I am looking forward to hearing from you.
