We are dying.

AL Amyloidosis, Chronic B-cell Leukemia, Chloracne, Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, Hodgkin's Disease, Ischemic Heart Disease, Multiple Myeloma, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Parkinson's Disease, Peripheral Neuropathy-Early-Onset, Porphyria Cutanea Tarda, Prostate Cancer, Respiratory Cancers, Soft Tissue Sarcomas.  Spina Bifida in biological children of Vietnam-era Veterans.

Quite a list.

This is the list of “presumptive conditions” the Veterans Administration (the VA) concedes to be caused by exposure to the Dioxins found in the herbicides sprayed to deny the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Regulars the cover of jungle foliage in Vietnam.  Veterans who served “boots on the ground” in Vietnam and contract one or more of these conditions or if their children contracted Spina Bifida are provided health care and compensation by the VA for these conditions.

Military Veterans who served at bases in Thailand supporting the efforts of the United States in Vietnam are contracting these same diseases.  Why, because military bases in Thailand were sprayed with the same Dioxin laden herbicides used in Vietnam.  “Rainbow” herbicides, Agents Orange (the most well-known), White, Purple, Pink, etc. were liberally used to control the growth of jungle vegetation at bases occupied by US troops in Thailand both on the base perimeters to deny insurgents cover and within the perimeter to control jungle growth in critical areas of the base.  This has been conceded by the VA and supported by evidence, brought to light by the declassification of the Project CHECO Southeast Asia Report, that herbicides (Agent Orange and other “rainbow” herbicides) were used at Thai military bases where US troops were stationed.

I personally served 1 year at U-Tapao RTNAB in Thailand and 6 months in Okinawa and Guam as a member of a munitions load team loading bombs onto B-52 heavy bombers in direct support of the war and troops in Vietnam.  At U-Tapao I was the team chief of a four man load team.  I have ischemic heart disease (heart attack & two stents) and have been recently diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, neither of which has been present in my family before.  Another member of my team has developed Parkinson’s disease and a third has developed peripheral neuropathy, once again not present in the family histories.  The last member, I have not had contact with for 48 years but, assuming he is 100% healthy still brings the rate we contracted these “presumptive” diseases to 75%.

Please support this petition and ask President Trump to support Vietnam Era Veterans who served in Thailand by changing existing law by Executive Order or by showing support for  S.2105 and HR. 4843, both  bills seek to modify the presumption of exposure to herbicides for Thailand Veterans of the Vietnam War.

PLEASE NOTE; If this petition asks for donations of any kind it is not my doing.  DO NOT send any money.  I am very upset this site added a donation tag to this important petition.  Peter
