South African Citizen started this petition to President Cyril Ramaphosa

It is understood that the President of the Republic of South Africa is refusing to issue a travel ban as he believes it is "too early" to issue one yet, despite the announcement of the second confirmed case of Covid 19, better known as the Coronavirus, in Johannesburg, South Africa (the first confirmed case being in KwaZulu Natal). What the public is gathering from this is that President Cyril Ramaphosa would rather wait for more confirmed cases before issuing a travel ban between foreign countries (especially affected by the virus) and South Africa. This petition is to compel the President of our country to realize the urgency of issuing a travel ban to prevent any more infected people from coming through our borders, as this is how we received the virus in the first place, through the 10 travelers that flew in from Italy on the 1st of March 2020. "Prevention is better than cure". The officials at the King Shaka International Airport failed to screen and quarantine the holiday makers, therefore public faith in our health system has dramatically declined. The public strongly believes that a travel ban could prevent any more infections and ensure the safety and health of the rest of the country.
