Eversince inception of Grade R in South Africa 1999 all the practitioners are employed on yearly renewable contracts that does not guarantee you a come back. No fixed salary as they are paid per learner per day, no bonus, no provident fund , not entitled to maternity leave. Government has been promising since 2012 to make them permanently employed up to now nothing has been said, instead they are taking  in ECD from Social Development. We demand that they first make Grade R educators permanent. They are caring and nurturing those young children for better lives. They prepare those young ones for formal schooling as yet they are being exploited and undermined. We demand them to be recognised as they are the foundation layers of our young children.
