Robben Island as a national keypoint serves to remind us of the pain and oppression we as a nation endured under the apartheid regime. Whilst maintaining the austerity and significance of the history it represents, I believe it is time We changed the narrative on this mass of land.

I believe we should convert Robben Island into a place of that brings us joy for our future instead of a place that dredges up our blighted past. A place to celebrate and enjoy our relatively new found freedom. A place to celebrate the history of our emancipation. I believe we should convert Robben Island into a Party Island and events destination.

The benefits of this rebrand and conversion are endless. Not only do we get to turn around our narrative of oppression and turn it into one of empowerment and triumph, but the boost to our local tourism industry and consequently, our GDP would be much welcome in light of the global pandemic we've been working through. Let us celebrate South Africa, OUR land, by turning Robben Island, a prison meant to incarcerate and enslave us, into the greatest party destination in the world!
