Second Friday parade

The First Friday parade is one of our many iconic traditions here at Clemson. People of all ages, from the wise and nostalgic to the cubs in training, come to our great university from all across the southeast to watch many of our current Tigers carry on the tradition that has stood the test of time for 43 years now. There is no greater feeling that combines with football season approaching than watching many organizations get together and march through campus, Tiger Band playing Tiger Rag, and celebrating with all of the students, alumni, and fans together as a family as we begin a brand new season of college football, especially one following our first national championship in 35 years.
However, our prideful tradition was unfortunately cancelled due to inclement weather. As stated before and historically speaking, Clemson loves and looks forward to our First Friday parade every year. The unfortunate occurrence left many Tigers disappointed and feeling as if this year wasn't the same because a tradition has been broken this year. Therefore, I along with others are calling for a Second Friday parade in preparation for Auburn next week. If you didn't recall, Clemson was unable to hold a First Friday parade before our matchup with Wofford and moved it to the second Friday before the Georgia game. This was in 1981, where our Tigers went on to win its first national championship in school history. I firmly believe in repeating history and making up for conditions that we obviously cannot control and hold a Second Friday parade the night before our showdown with Auburn. I have full faith in our student body and our wonderful First Friday director to prepare for this in such a quick turnaround. They all did such a wonderful job planning for the original date all summer so allowing this parade to happen will make their hard work feel worth it. So please, President Clements and Clemson University, please allow our University to hold a Second Friday parade to make up for the unfortunate weather that prevented our tradition to occur on the original date.
