West Chester University recently started a rebranding process for its 150th Anniversary. As part of this process, a new look for the WCU public-facing website was rolled out beginning on October 25th, 2021. This new brand was aimed at presenting a "renewed," "inspired," and "optimistic" version of the University.

While the rebrand succeeded in making the website more bold, bright, and dynamic, it did not do so in a positive way. The new style and layout makes the website more distracting, less navigable, and more confusing. The header fonts are extremely bold and distorting, with certain letters being nearly illegible on some devices and browsers. Some parts of the website are harder to find, having been obscured by a confusing layout and moving parts. Additionally, the home page is dominated by a looped video that takes up an entire screen and features phrases such as "a campus that extends the globe."

With this petition, we ask the West Chester University of Pennsylvania administration to revert the University website to what it was prior to these changes. While we understand the desire for a bold rebrand, we feel that this change in particular is a step in the wrong direction.
