As outlined in the below New York Times article, Stephanie George is serving a life sentence without parole for possession of crack cocaine. This case exemplifies the appalling lack of justice we unfortunately have in the United States. Please read about her case in the article and sign.
As outlined in the recent New York Times article, Stephanie George is serving a life sentence for possession of crack cocaine. She made the poor decision of getting involved with Michael Dickey, a drug dealer (and the father of one of her children). Though Mr. Dickey was in charge of the operation, he has already been released from prison for cooperating with the police, while a small fry such as Ms. George has served 15 years with no chance of parole. Her three children are rightfully bitter and upset, having grown up without their mother. Ms. George has no history of violence. There is no evidence that she would repeat her previous mistakes should she be released. Cases like this reveal the appalling lack of justice in our country. Ms. George's lawyers have stated that her only chance is presidential clemency. I hope you will grant it to her.
