With COVID-19 spreading at an undeniably fast rate, academics should be the least of students concerns. Students should not have to worry about their family’s health and their own while taking classes. Along with worrying about the pandemic, some students may not have access to the technology needed for online classes, and some may not benefit from learning online. In a situation like this, it would only makes sense if students were cut some slack by implementing a pass/fail grading system for spring quarter. This would reduce the amplitude of stress already placed on our shoulders and make the pandemic less stressful and more bearable. I think this solution will maintain Cal Poly's high academic reputation whilst allowing students to take care of their physical and mental well beings.
