The reason why this topic is so important to me is because I have a son and other family members locked up behind bars . I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that the commonwealth system in Halifax county Virginia is prejudice young black men jus black men in general go in front of the court system and the commonwealth will give them the maximum sentence even if they have never been in trouble and it's sad because a white person can go out and commit the same crime and get probation or a year for the same exact crime. They want give African American men bonds but wil grant bond or house arrest wit no problem for Caucasian men snd women. And let's not speak on parole this new Governor wants to do away with the parole board that's like saying he dnt care about giving people a second chance . My son is locked up serving time for something he didn't do abd everytime I reach out to the commonwealth to bring him back in court to do a sentence reduction she charges the date . Halifax county Virginia is racist and the commonwealth attorneys office is over abusing their power by giving African American black peoples more time than what they supposed to whether the crime is murder, robbery drugs or etc. I am the voice of my son and other African American men and women behind bars so please stand with me snd sign this petition to get our loved ones paroled early or get a second chance to go back in the courts.
