Preserve Pittsburgh Sports History - Heinz deserves to be name of Steelers stadium
Why this petition matters
We don't need another bank or brokerage firm to be on top of a professional stadium. Professional sports teams like the Steelers represent their city, and the people of the city deserve to have a name that screams Pittsburgh. And you don't get much more Pittsburgh than Heinz Ketchup. Sometimes the highest dollar shouldn't be all that matters, but unfortunately that seems to be the case in professional sports. Why should the Steelers front office get to make the decision on what the name should be based on offers from companies for naming rights? After all, the people of Pittsburgh paid $233 million to build Heinz field, which was 82% of the building cost. And ever since the people of Pittsburgh have paid top dollar for tickets and pack the stadium every game. Steelers fan paid to build the stadium and have provided revenue for the stadium to even exist. So shouldn't the fans and people of Pittsburgh get a chance to say what they want the stadium to be named? Let's get this passed around the city of Pittsburgh and all around the US and even world as the largest and greatest fan base in professional sports and tell the Steelers that we want Heinz Field to remain the name!
