Heritage sites are interesting to see, and many enjoy the stories behind them, though heritage sites' true importance is uncommonly known. The impact that these sites have is huge and greatly affects the world’s entire population. Preserving heritage not only preserves those sites but also preserves our identities, brings in money for the local economy by attracting tourism and saving the use of unnecessary building materials and vehicles, etc. By saving these materials it also supports the environment by reducing the carbon emissions emitted in construction and helps prevent the overuse of building materials, dumping of useable materials, and lowering the amount of undegradable plastics. Today, there is a lack of protection for historical sites which allows them to be destroyed or altered. The issue with this is that it defeats all the benefits listed above. A lower income for the economy, higher tax rates, loss of identities, and damage to the environment all come from a lack of protection to historical sites, and that is why it is so important that we preserve these sites to the best of our ability.
