Please do not build a dog-park in Buehler Park in Rolla, Missouri
There is a proposal before the City of Rolla to build a dog-park in Buehler Park. Buehler Park is a beautiful, popular, 3-acre park next to Exit 184 off of Interstate 44 on the west side of Rolla, Missouri. Besides being enjoyed by many adults (both local residents and visitors), Buehler Park is loved by the many, many children who play there. The children enjoy its dinosaur-shaped playground equipment, but most of that equipment would have to be removed if the proposal is accepted, and the remaining space would not be sufficient to accommodate these structures.
And this is so unnecessary. There is much unused park land in Rolla where a dog-park could be built. Bridge School Park, right across Kingshighway behind the Welcome Center or Tory Park, behind the movie theatre, are both fine locations. It isn’t necessary to change the basic character of a popular well-used dedicated city park to build a dog-park in our area.
Buehler Park was dedicated to the City of Rolla "for park purposes only and none other ... FOREVER." We now respectfully ask the City of Rolla to please uphold the spirit and letter of the dedication deed by leaving Buehler Park as it is – a lovely park for all local residents and visitors to enjoy.
