Preserve art history in Pennsville before it is too late.

Below is a post from the Pennsville Historical Society to preserve the existing PMHS Cafeteria Mural in its existing location. Additionally, my hope is to have the Pennsville Board of Education and Superintendent develop an alternative location/solution with the Student Council so they may too continue the tradition of providing artistic value to the Township of Pennsville.  By signing this petition you are informing the Pennsville Board of Education and Superintendent that you value and support the preservation of the Cafeteria Mural in its current form and location.

"Since the start of the Pennsville Township Historical Society 30 years ago, one of the pillars of our Mission Statement is to preserve items of historical worth to our Township. We have done exactly that on several occasions.

It has recently come to our attention that the PMHS Student Council has voted to digitally preserve the PMHS Cafeteria Mural and then paint over it. This came from a discussion they had about what could they do to improve/update the school.

This was... a major art project over a two year period, 1975-1977, that was lead by art teacher John Bischoff, and done by PMHS art students. The full wall mural showcases Pennsville Township History. The condition of the mural is good and has a few spots that needs restoration.

Currently, the Board of Education hasn't considered changing anything regarding the mural, there would have to be more discussion and the BOE asked the students to provide more details regarding their plan for digital preservation and display.

We ask interested citizens of the Pennsville community and PMHS alumni, to please email your thoughts about preserving the mural in it's original location to Superintendent Dr. Brodzik and Board of Education President Katherine Bodine at: and . If you are still local, I would ask that you join me in attending the next Board of Education Meeting on Monday, November 27th at 6:00pm at the District Office Building at 30 Church Street, Pennsville. Thank you."
