The park is a small grassy area just of Blackburn Road next to Andrew Lane. It is a pleasant space used by many people to walk round, relax, and socialise by holding events at Christmas and Easter.

There are now efforts to change the space by making it into a children's play ground by adding rides i.e. swings, Rounabouts etc..

The effect of this will totally change the quiet area that is so valuable to the community. Everyone who benefits from this area, who needs what it offers to support their quality of life and mental health will be much worse off.

The risk of antisocial behaviour, litter and the personnel safety of those who walk through the park at night will be placed in jeopardy.

The cost of building and maintaining such a play area is also a cost that is not wanted or needed. There are ample and well kept children's play areas only a short walk away on Astley Bridge Park and Moss Bank park.
