Dear Steven Marshall,
I am writing to you to express my concern about our current trajectory for reopening our state borders. I understand the importance of reopening to our fellow states and territories however I am concerned about the huge disruption this will have on schools across the state. Children under 12 are not yet able to be vaccinated and as a result will be left vulnerable to covid infection during the last two weeks of the primary school year. I am asking you on behalf of parents throughout the state to delay our reopening until the SA school year ends on Friday 10th of December. It will be extremely tough and disruptive to our young children to be in and out of isolation and school closures when there is a positive case in the school community. This is inevitable regardless of our vaccination status as a state, as we know that vaccinated individuals can still contract and pass on the virus. Please don't allow our young children to suffer during the last two weeks of their year, please allow them to continue safe in the knowledge that they will not be in danger from the virus itself or the disruptive consequences of isolation when a positive case occurs. Two weeks extra, for peace of mind and the safety of our young children is what I am begging you to consider.

Kind regards,

South Australian parents
