Health care is extremely important for seniors that no longer have extra coverage from a work subsidized program. As we age we have more possibilities of grave health issues. Most seniors are struggling to pay housing costs and food so add in health care and you will see a lot of seniors not seeking help and suffering for it. We need people who are concerned for their fellow man not just $ signs. There has to be a way the system can work after all it has been around for many many years. I am sorry to say that Premier McNeil does not show any compassion for anyone. He will destroy anyone and anything to balance his books. But no problem doing things to make themselves more important than the regular tax payer, Whoever heard of a full pension after 2 years. I believe something as important and costly as this deserves to be voted on by every citizen. None of them have to strike to be heard they just do it. Hopefully he will be out the door and whoever gets in will fix what he and his cronies have broken.

A lot of people are coming of age as part of the baby boomer explosion. We are in our sixties, seventies and beyond. Most are not working any more. It is sad to think you won't have any coverage from employers. Getting older means more health problems. We have seen the problems that the U.S.A. healthcare. I realize that healthcare is very expensive but I think it's the best we have at this point. Privatizing it means, those who can afford it gets help and those who can't suffer. This is "mans inhumanity toward man"at it's finest. I know we in Nova Scotia have had to swallow a lot of things from governments that do not have the majority of people in mind when they make some political decisions. We have to invest in Nova Scotia. We can no longer be cutting education to the bone. We can no longer close factories or ship them out of this province. We can no longer support a government who has no real interest in our province. That's my rant. Premier McNeil the population of N.S. will speak it's piece in the next election and you will know how unpopular you are now.

Public Heath care is great for those who have money .. However many Nova Scotian's do not and they should not be in a disadvantage or their Health Care should not be eroded.

I'm so glad this has received so much public attention. Private Health Care is bad for Canada. Residents should know that Scotia Surgery is owned by dentists! Look up Scotia Surgery in the Joint Stock Registry. Then look up Renu Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Joint Stock Registry. A few of the same names appear. Keep searching residents: you'll find the College of Physicians and Surgeons say they want to regulate these businesses. Isn't it shocking that they aren't able to regulate private businesses? The College governs the practice of medicine and those who practice it where ever they practice it. If you do a Google search you can find a copy of a Scotia Surgery contract that in fact gives the College power to intervene. We deserve better! We deserve more accountability. Are we being fed nonsense by the very organizations we rely upon to keep us healthy and safe? Even the NS Health Care Coalition filed a complaint with the College but nothing was ever posted in regards to how it was handled. How much of this could be orchestrated? Every political party criticizes Scotia Surgery but every year they seem to get a renewed contract. We have to stand up for this if we're going to make a change. Let those in charge know that we remember what was said in the past and it doesn't add up!
