Krystle Willcott started this petition to Premier of Quebec and

Since the start of the pandemic, we have been emphasizing the importance of food self-sufficiency. Capelin is one of our natural resources and it is free.

This fish is only caught in the spring and in the dark. It follows the tide, so it is not always possible to fish it before 9:30 p.m. as the curfew requires.

We are claiming our right to fish. The reality of the people of the North Shore must be considered. The government cannot ignore this reality and deny us the right to stock up as we have done for generations. We therefore want to be able to fish for capelin which rolls on our banks without risking a fine.

-We are committed not to create gatherings, to respect social distancing.

-We welcome with open arms the presence of police if necessary.

We consider that this outdoor activity, practiced with our "family bubble" does not represent any health risk but on the contrary, this activity risks creating moral benefits for families in our region.

For over a year the government has been putting restrictions and we understand the basis of those restrictions. There is a limit that we cannot tolerate. We cannot submit to the detriment of our identity and our rights because we consider it unjustified.

We ask you to grant us the right to fish for capelin for the estimated period of May 1 to June 15, 2021.
