Type 1 Diabetes is not a choice or caused by poor diet and Health habits.

This is an autoimmune disease with no cure.

There is wonderful technology available such as insulin pumps and CGMs (Constant Blood Glucose Monitoring systems) if you can afford them.  Banting and Best discovered insulin on July 27,1921. They alone saved the lives of millions of Type 1 diabetics. Still Type 1 Diabetics die needlessly because they can not afford the best technology available to them, Sure there are programs available but they are antiquated and are not nearly enough to cover yearly Diabetic supplies. Insulin, Reservoirs, Infusion sets, test strips etc. Very important is the CGM as it can give you a blood glucose result every 5 minutes instead of 4 results a day through finger sticks. The CGM can also send the information to your insulin pump which can cut off your insulin supply if your Blood Glucose is dropping you into a Hypoglycemic reaction that could result in death or micro bolus you to keep you in a normal blood glucose range to prevent the many deadly side effects caused by Type 1 diabetes. 

Blindness, Heart failure, kidney failure, neuropathy, gastroparesis just to name a few.

We deserve the access to the best treatment available even if you do not have Health insurance. 

Diabetes side effects has cost the Canadian health care system 15.36 billion dollars over the last ten years.

Type 1 Diabetics deserve and demand the best treatment available.
