A defective policy = A defective decision
In response to the announcement made by the Liberal Government on June 28th, 2017, we the undersigned are formally requesting that the moratorium be “retroactive” and take into account that the decision to close our two Burlington schools (Lester B Pearson HS & Robert Bateman HS) which was just made a couple of weeks prior on June 7th, 2017.
Given the fact that some enlightening information has been brought to the Provincial Government's attention, which has warranted the Education Minister, Mitzie Hunter to call a moratorium and therefore halt the current Program Accommodation Process (PAR), would in turn indicate the need to also halt any and all decisions made using the existing PAR policy at least within the last 3-6 months.
Many communities across Ontario have struggled with the decisions being made using this incredibly flawed process along with the funding formula. We believe that in an effort for our government to be fair and equitable, it is imperative that no school closures proceed that were decided under the current PAR process and all decisions made under the current flawed process be halted and reversed immediately.
