Gody Dolor started this petition to Premier Doug Ford

Whereas, the Ontario Provincial Government under Premier Doug Ford has established the limit of 10 people inside Houses of Worship which has inevitably led to the cancellation on in-person Mass services starting Nov. 23, 2020.

Below was the pronouncement issued in this regard,

Ontario is moving the COVID-19 hot spots of Peel Public Health and Toronto Public Health into Lockdown effective Monday, November 23, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.
“With the numbers rising rapidly in certain regions, we have to make the tough, but necessary decisions now to protect our hospitals, long-term care and retirement homes, and every person in this province,” said Premier Ford. “We cannot afford a province-wide lockdown, so we are taking preventative action today by moving Toronto and Peel into Lockdown level restrictions and other regions into higher levels of restrictions. We need to take decisive action to stop the spread of this deadly virus.”

We humbly petition that the lockdown restriction be rolled back to 30% of the capacity of the Church.

We should emphasize in our appeal that both the ArchDiocese and the Provincial Government share the common goal of preventing the spread of the virus. It should be emphasized however, that the various Catholic Churches have implemented a set of best practices that would allow the safe worship in the Church --- much, much safer than those that we find in the big box establishments that are allowed to continue to open. Among the best practices are the following: On-line registration to ensure that the limit of 30% is adhered; use of sanitizer prior to entry; limits to choir (maximum member is 5); wearing of mask inside the church; safe delivery of the Holy Eucharist thru alternate seating arrangements; avoidance of big gatherings at the hallway after the service - as examples of best practices that ensure the minimal spread of the virus.

In this moments of uncertainty, it is incumbent that we all renew and strengthen our Christian commitment to prayer, our longing to be in union with our God in His of House of Worship, and a strong call to fulfill Christ's commandment to love God and to love his neighbour (which we vividly display by the set of best practices strictly adhered to the Church; and thru our contemplative prayers for all those infected with COVID, for those economically affected by COVID and for those caring for the sick the less fortunate among us.

We humbly pray for the Government of Premier Doug Ford to favorably hear our petition.
