Call on the government to provide schools with saliva RATs in place of nasal RATs.
Currently Victorian schools are provided with nasal swab rapid antigen tests (RATs), which students are required to use twice a week. Many children, especially those in primary school, are very scared and upset about having a swab inserted in their nostril. This is leading to a lot of kids refusing to take the tests, becoming very distressed and putting a strain on their families who have to ensure the tests are completed properly. Just as some children have needle phobias, others have developed phobias of nasal swabs. This is stressful for entire households. Please join in asking the state government to provide saliva RATs to schools in place of nasal RATs. Children need to be tested, but the least we can do is make it as non-invasive and stressful as possible.
