Campbell Newman’s destructive job cuts are hurting health services as well as our economy in all areas of Queensland.
Now he is trying to avoid blame for the damage that his cuts have caused by announcing that he will require doctors and nurses to be put on his local health boards.
This ignores the fact that doctors and nurses alone don’t determine clinical outcomes. Unlike Campbell Newman's refusal to take responsibility for patient care, everyday Allied Health practitioners take responsibility by providing hospital and clinical services.
Premier Newman, if you are serious about providing health services to Queensland and making local boards reflect the views of health service providers, you need to require that Allied Health professionals are on your hospital boards.
