Every school day counts in a child’s academic life. For students to gain the numerous benefits of school, attendance is critical. Attending school helps set children up for life.

During times of uncertainty, children need structure, predictability, stability and security.  Many children struggle with significant adjustments to their routines.  The broader environment plays an important role in supporting a child’s resilience. We need to maintain routines to provide children with a sense of safety and predictability.  We need our children to be at school. 

Annastacia Palaszczuk has now proven that education is NOT a priority for her. EVERY school day matters.  Annastacia's ‘Every Day Counts’ initiative aims at improving student attendance at school. Research backing her initiative shows that in Queensland, higher student attendance is associated with higher student achievement.  School absenteeism can impact significantly students’ learning and wellbeing.

We all want the best for our children.  Having an education is important to ensure that they have the best opportunities in their adult life.

They have missed too much school already.  Parents and teachers alike are concerned at the frequency and ease that this government has in shutting schools and preventing children from receiving an education.

This petition calls on Annastacia to STOP CANCELLING SCHOOL and to allow our children an education.
