Delhi is Choking - a Public Health Emergency
Nov 5, 2019 —
If you are living in Delhi NCR, and you look out of your house, you might not be able to see very far. These visuals are scary - they look like they are a part of some apocalypse movie scene.
I live in Delhi, and breathing is like sitting in a gas chamber. The toxic air has been slowly and silently killing us by choking our lungs and entering our brains. Delhi has declared a Public Health Emergency and schools have been shut.
We can't go out to play or go to school to study and stepping out of our houses now seems like a compromise on our lives. Children might be India's future, but no one is concerned about their future. This emergency is long overdue. While I can see the pollution all around me, I can't see the result of any policy to curb it.
Why is action still taking too long? Why are the voices of our children not being heard in the world's largest democracy?
You have been a part of my journey, and I thank you for your support! It's now time for us to act together, so that our voices can reach many more. Share this petition so we can fight for our right to clean air to breathe, and a better environment to live in.
Keep fighting for people power!
