Recently the general public in Goa received worse than an electrical shock from the electricity department.The bills have been exorbitant and are irrationally high. They simply cannot be the actual calculation of a period of consumption recorded by the energy meter.

This is either a fraud on the public or a monumental blunder of the electricity department. The government has offered an audacious explanation,they have put it down to added consumption due to covid lock down which kept people at home. Even if there was an increase, the amounts that people have been billed are exorbitant and unacceptable.

The people of Goa want an investigation and the immediate re-calibration of the bills. These bills should not be paid till we receive an adequate explanation.
