Save our Powell River waterfront - relocate the sewage plant

Placing a sewage treatment plant on our waterfront will jeopardize our identity as a "Coastal by Nature" community. A sewage treatment plant on our waterfront on the old golf course lands in Historic Townsite will affect our quality of life. Chosen plant technology will potentially allow airborne transmission of contaminated bacteria and odour. This can impact the health of residents and students and staff at the nearby elementary and high schools. There is an abundance of at risk wildlife that will be seriously impacted.
Our waterfront is critical to tourism and the economic future of Powell River. Mayor and Council’s decision will leave a legacy that negatively impacts future generations. The location needs to be moved off the waterfront. The public needs to be engaged in the decision making of developing a vision for the future use of these valuable waterfront lands.
