Cassie Bolten started this petition to Poway City Council

We urge you to take immediate action to save FWRD Fitness by withdrawing the City of Poway’s cease-and-desist order. FWRD is a small business in Poway owned and operated by Stephanie Firenze. Stephanie is an innovative, tenacious, and community-driven businesswoman. She personifies “breaking the glass ceiling” by being a Hispanic female who is running a successful business (even throughout a global pandemic) while she simultaneously raises two young girls and is eight months pregnant with a third. We are collectively befuddled by the fact that the City of Poway, a place known for being small-business friendly and sensitive to the values of its constituents, would actively seek to destroy Stephanie’s small business. At a time in our history where a global pandemic has forced innumerable businesses to close their doors, Stephanie has tirelessly invested time, forward thinking, and money into transforming her business to safely comply with the everchanging orders issued by the State of California. Throughout COVID-19, she has found safe ways to bring the Poway community together, benefitting all participants physically, mentally, and spiritually. Stephanie epitomizes a business owner who selflessly gives back to the community in which she operates. Please send Stephanie, along with the community that FWRD serves, the message that hard work, innovation, and service are characteristics that the City of Poway supports in the citizens that run its small businesses. Please help Stephanie, FWRD, and any other small businesses in Poway that are struggling, by making it easier and not harder for small businesses to operate here. Please take a stand for small businesses and the wishes of your constituents by taking action to ensure that FWRD is able to continue to operate in its temporary space during the COVID-19 pandemic.
