Keep StoneRidge a club for families in Poway!
Michael Schlesinger, a business owner known for purchasing golf courses only to attempt to build massive residential developments on them, has put together a tentative plan with a select group of golf club members to turn StoneRidge Country Club into a 55+ condominium development (in excess of 180 units) and private golf club in North Poway. This plan would also eliminate the existing 9 lighted tennis courts and a Jr. Olympic sized swimming pool.
Since 1962, StoneRidge has been a family oriented country club in Poway which offers golf, tennis, swimming, and other community social activities (ACEing Autism, support for Generate Hope, spring and summer break activities/camps for youth, a strong youth and adult instructional tennis program, social tennis leagues, instructional swim program for youth, bridge for seniors, etc.). Many of the youth programs are community based programs which are used predominantly by non-members.
Families For StoneRidge, a group of concerned Poway families and neighbors, is asking that the Poway community reject this tentative plan and work with our group and the developer to devise a new plan that will allow development, but preserve the inclusive qualities of StoneRidge with its golf course, club house, tennis courts, pool, youth and community programs.
