The Post Office on Tomkinson Road is a much loved institution in the community. That is why many people are disappointed to hear the news of its closure on the 31st of July.
The aim of this petition is to show the Post Office that it would be sorely missed by residents, and to ask that every effort goes into keeping it open.
Jack Kennaugh has written to the Post Office Board asking just that. You can find the text here:
“To Whoever it may Concern,
I am writing to you following the news that the Tomkinson Road Post Office in Nuneaton is due to close at 6pm on the 31st of July. As the postmaster has resigned, please pass on the thanks of a grateful community for his services.
However, I would like to urge yourselves, and any other organisation you are working with, to make it a priority to ensure a smooth transition from one postmaster to another.
The community surrounding Tomkinson Road would benefit greatly from a Post Office in the immediate area. Many of the residents are elderly and the Queens Road and Stockingford Post Offices are for some, particularly in adverse weather, a difficult journey away.
I hope that my confidence in Nuneaton businesses is shared by yourselves and that as much energy and urgency is put into the task to find a new owner.
Attached to this letter is a link to a petition. I have asked the community to sign it to demonstrate just how loved the Tomkinson Road Post Office is in the area.
I, and the community as a whole, would be immensely grateful for any updates on the situation.
Please sign this petition to show the Post Office Leadership just how much the Tomkinson Road Post Office means to the community.
