Stop the closure of Great Portland Street CROWN Post Office

Stop the closure of Great Portland Street CROWN Post Office
Post Office Ltd are planning to franchise Great Portland Street CROWN Post Office.
This will mean the loss of jobs for the 17 staff who currently work at the busy office. These staff have almost 400 years experience, which enables them to serve the local community and businesses in a professional and efficient manner. If franchised, the proposed downgrading will result in customers being served by less staff, who will have little or no Post Office experience . Franchises often have a high turnover of staff and these employees are often paid the minimum wage.
Longer waiting times and a poorer service will then impact on not only local residents, but the many businesses, that use the office.
In October 2019 a House of Commons Report criticised the Post Office for its strategy of closing CROWN Post Offices and they have to pay sub-postmasters £58 m after a High Court ruled the company were at fault for installing the defective Horizon computer system in branches
We the undersigned totally oppose the franchise and downgrading of Great Portland Street CROWN Post Office. We believe this proposal will severely damage the provision of services and we call upon the Post Office and the Government to withdraw their plans and retain the CROWN Post Office
