Freedom Fighter started this petition to POSCO

POSCO, a South Korean conglomerate, is involved in projects in natural gas from Shwe and Mya gas fields, including the Shwe Phyu Gas Field (generated $276 million in operating profit last year) which is known currently to be in Phase 2 of its development. It is of utmost urgency that POSCO condemns the military junta's actions and halts all operations immediately. POSCO should withhold revenue-sharing that would finance its military-affiliated shareholders such as Myanmar Oil & Gas Enterprise (MOGE), which is a state-owned enterprise that is notorious for corruption, lack of transparency, and zero accountability. MOGE is only one of many state owned enterprises that are effectively financing the campaign of terror and brutal killings of innocent civilians in Myanmar.

POSCO’s continued corporate affiliation with the Myanmar military concedes its support towards the military. POSCO's continued silence and complicity to the junta's human rights abuses against unarmed protestors is evidence of its disregard to upholding their own code of business ethics.

This petition asks POSCO to support the demands by Myanmar’s civil society:

1) We request POSCO to openly permit your 1,000 and above local employees in Yangon & Rakhine State to participate in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).
2) We urgently call on POSCO to to end your business ties with Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited (MEHL), responsibly and effectively.
3) We urge you to apply economic and monetary pressures on all your Myanmar Business Partners, military and non-military affiliates, to cease gun-violence against unarmed civilians, peaceful protestors and dissidents.
4) We strongly ask POSCO to freeze all financing to your shareholders during this period of civil unrest. POSCO’s corporate dividends accrued by the profit-sharing structure with the military members are enabling them to consolidate their illegitimate authority using terror and violence.
5) We call upon POSCO to abide by your code of ethics enacted in 2003, which explicitly includes the US Human Rights Act that “proclaims support and respect for human life and dignity.” We ask POSCO to act as a responsible, global, integrated energy company guided by your commitment to the highest integrity levels  and to respect internationally recognized Human Rights Standards.
6) We ask POSCO to publicly condemn the military coup and the violence against innocent civilians inflicted by the junta.
