Khalid Al-Shantir started this petition to Portsmouth City Council

Calisthenics has endured the test of time. It has been around for millennia, and has been used by millions of athletes, soldiers, gladiators, monks, and every day people. Long before gyms and diets were a thing, calisthenics was the way to become a athlete.

The word calisthenics derives from two Greek words: kallos and sthenos. These words mean beauty and strength, respectively.

For the past decade, calisthenics has experienced a resurgence. As people get tired of mindlessly repeating the same gym routine in a crowded indoors gym, and with the advent of YouTube and free information hubs, such as this website, more and more people have started practicing calisthenics.

This unit would also save people from having to go to the gym if they don't feel 100% comfortable due to Covid-19.

Cosham park has lots of space for a unit too. Lets use this space wisely to keep people active, strong and healthy!

This petition is to respectfully ask Portsmouth City Council to build a Callisthenics unit in Cosham park for the people of Cosham and surrounding areas as the park has various free spaces and would be ideal for regular and new coming exerciser's!

Please sign and share this petition and lets make this happen. Thank you
