Allow Uber in Portsmouth, NH

Adam Salzer started this petition to Mayor of Portsmouth, NH Robert Lister

Uber, the popular ride-sharing service, was recently banned in Portsmouth, NH under pressure from local cab company owners. Uber provides a service to the city by shuttling intoxicated passengers from clubs, bars, and restaurants to their homes, keeping them off the streets and out from behind the wheel. Drivers for Uber, like myself, use the extra income to support their families, and some even Uber as a full-time job.

The banning of Uber in Portsmouth will have a negative impact on the town and the community, as many users commend Uber drivers for being much more timely and reliable than the local cab companies that are pushing Uber out. Cab company owners have even gone on record stating that, with the change in regulations they're now allowed to charge whatever they want for service, and intend on charging passengers more than they were before!

Mayor Lister feels that Uber is just not a good fit for Portsmouth, and we need to show him that he is incorrect. Uber is an essential tool for Portsmouth residents and tourists, and helps ensure their safety and the safety of others after a night on the town.
