As you all know, the Portland Winterhawks now manages all youth hockey programs out of WSC.  New proposition introduced on 5/28/19 specifies the varsity/WVHL teams would receive only 1 game per week -- no team practices (on/off ice), no skills clinics. It's one hour of ice time per week.

With exception of 6U which stays the same, every other age group increases ice time under the new model except the Varsity/WVHL teams.

In defense of the Varsity/WVHL program to at least add another hour for a practice and not leave us with only a one hour game per week, please make a note of the fact that just 2 years ago the Varsity/WVHL teams used to be scheduled for 3.25 hours per week and last season it was reduced to 2.25 hours per week.  

The above drastic change will affect all of us in many ways.  So what the Portland Winterhawks may not make any changes?  We have been playing the longest in the league.  We helped develop our youth hockey programs.  We all deserve to hear the rationale and explanations behind their decisions and the opportunity to ask questions.
