Please sign this petition to let Portland City Council know you would like to see the Portland Skatepark Expansion funding prioritized in this years (FY22) city budget.

The Portland Skatepark is an incredible resource for healthy community engagement and recreation for the City of Portland and the surrounding areas. In 2020, after years of fundraising, the community reached the goal of raising over $100,000 for the phase 2 expansion of the Skatepark, which was the benchmark set to receive $250,000 in city funding. However the city funding needed for the expansion was not included in this years Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget proposal.

We believe that it is important to prioritize the remaining funding needed for this project because of the large community support that has been demonstrated and the increased safety and accessibility it will provide.

Many people enjoy the Skatepark, however accessibility can be limited because of the size and current design layout. The expansion will provide more space for everyone to comfortably enjoy the Skatepark. It will enhance access for young and beginner participants and include new features for the more experienced, helping to create a safer and better park for everybody.

Without full funding included in this years budget it is unlikely for any expansion to begin until 2023 at the earliest. By including funding in this years budget we will be able to begin the long process of selecting design/build firms, having public input meetings, establishing construction organization etc., that will allow us to most likely begin construction next year.
