Jordan Staznik started this petition to Portland City Council and

For years now, Portland residents have been trying to convince the city of the dangers of spraying Monsantos Roundup in city parks and public spaces. Four years ago, the petition that was started got us nowhere officially, but did help to begin to raise awareness around the issue. Flash back to two years ago, when a "California jury found Monsanto liable for their popular glyphosate-based herbicide 'Roundup' causing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in a school groundskeeper. The company was fined $289 million in damages and fines. But now, even after this court decision, Portland Parks and Recreation is still using Monsanto's weed killers in Portland's parks."

Now I ask... WHY payout someone nearly 300million dollars, if your product hasn't caused these issues?! What safety concerns are they hiding under all this money....

In case you're unfamiliar with the potential dangers of being exposed to Glyphosate, an endocrine disruptor, which is the main ingredient in Monsantos RoundUp-

Heres an example of some of the issues that may arise: cancer, miscarriages, skin/eye irritation, breathing problems, disruption of human sex hormones, harm to our wildlife (save the bees!!), liver disease, microbiome disruption, poisoning of our soil, and poisoning of this planet and its people.

Do any of these issues alarm you? Do these health concerns happen to be something you'd like to keep yourself, your children, or your loved ones from experiencing? Then please take a few minutes to sign & share this petition.

So many of the issues we are experiencing currently have come to be such problems because we don't take action until its too late... We neglect to acknowledge all of the impacts of the unseen... Portland Residents who are reading this, you know what a special pocket of the world we've found here with each other. It is our responsibility to keep our city clean & green, and our duty to hold those with decision making power accountable. Please take this small step in hopes to make a big impact. Let's DEMAND chemical free parks & playgrounds for our kids & pets by next summer. Now is your time to SIGN!
