New Port St. Lucie Park to be named in honor of United States Submarine Veterans

The extension of the Crosstown Parkway has allowed for the creation of a new city park at the corner of Floresta Drive and Crosstown Parkway. There are currently no memorials to Submarine Veterans within Port St. Lucie. There are over 400 Submarine Veterans residing in the City of Port St. Lucie; and brothers Benjamin and John Schafer were residents of St. Lucie County when they were aboard USS THRESHER on April 10, 1963 when it was lost in the Atlantic Ocean 220 miles east of Boston, MA.
We are asking the City of Port St. Lucie to name the new city park at the corner of Floresta Dr. and Crosstown Parkway, United States Submarine Veterans Memorial Park.
