Port Aransas Tax Payers Alliance started this petition to Port Aransas City Council and

Since we will not be able to attend this meeting in person, Port Aransas Taxpayers Alliance is pleased to submit the following comments and signatures to be included in the public meeting minutes and read during Public Comments:

Port Aransas Taxpayers Alliance is a new growing group of concerned business owners, property owners, and residents that formed to meet and discuss the recent council actions that have an effect on all of us and to help develop workable solutions to problems that have been raised regarding rental property and lot development.

Our concerns deal with the current changes the council is quickly pushing through that affect the rental property, ADU's , lot sizes, etc. found in Chapters 21 and 25 of the City's zoning ordinances. We are concerned that the changes have not been thoroughly vetted, studied, or shared with taxpayers who will directly be affected by the changes.

In addition, while the action is not required legally, we feel that the proper and neighborly thing to do is to notify in writing all property owners that may be affected with adequate time to respond and comment.

During this period the community will have an opportunity to evaluate possible changes and their ramifications to their property. We all have the same love of our City and want to work together to identify problems and develop reasonable solutions.

Many of us are concerned that the current actions will result in legal challenges against the City, as well as concerns of the long-term financial ramifications of hasty and precarious actions.

As a group, we do not approve of the actions of the Council and Mayor regarding the changes currently proposed on the agenda as a 3rd and final reading tonight.

This group strongly believes that some of the issues being brought up could be solved if current ordinances were properly enforced without the resulting drama or legal risk.

Good and sound government practices should provide a written attorney's opinion regarding legal ramifications of these actions as well as an analysis of the financial impact on the current and future City's budget.

This community pulled together after Harvey and we, as taxpayers and residents want to be a part of the solutions that the Council has identified as issues and work together to make our city even stronger.

Thank you.
