Esta é uma iniciativa de um grupo de devotos das congregações dos templos e projetos ISKCON do Sul do Brasil sob os cuidados de Hara Kanta Prabhu, a saber: os templos urbanos de Curitiba, Florianópolis, Itajaí e Porto Alegre, o Gurukula (escola védica) e a Comunidade Rural, ambos também em Curitiba. Hara Kanta Das Brahmacari Prabhu é um devoto senior consagrado, com mais de 40 anos de experiência em liderança na ISKCON.

Inspirados pelos ensinamentos, instruções e exemplo pessoal de Srila Prabhupada, eles vêm já há muitos anos pautando suas atividades, com grande sucesso, no modelo de atuação idealizado e instituído pelo nosso Acarya-Fundador: apoio e valorização da BBT e dos livros de Srila Prabhupada, promovendo sua distribuição massiva (distribuem 45.000 livros por ano); a distribuição irrestrita de Prasadam gratuita com o programa Alimentos para Vida (distribuem 8.000 pratos completos por mês através de almoços diários abertos); canto público dos santos nomes de Krishna nas ruas; desenvolvimento dos templos como comunidades urbanas de treinamento monástico de pregadores e líderes e também como centros de acolhimento e cultivo da congregação; desenvolvimento de comunidades rurais para a moradia de famílias dedicadas, e aulas e festivais diários gratuitos abertos ao público, onde as pessoas podem vir e facilmente aprender sobre Krishna e honrar prasada gratuita. Esta é a essência.

Com isso, eles desenvolveram ao longo dos anos uma boa imagem pública, participando de importantes associações interreligiosas, integrando o roteiro turístico religioso oficial de Curitiba e recebendo, além de visitantes e turistas, visitas guiadas de estudantes e professores de diversos níveis estudantis. Tal postura rendeu também diversas reportagens favoráveis na imprensa.

Tudo isso representa um tangível, autorizado e inestimável benefício espiritual a milhares e milhares de pessoas, ao longo dos anos. 

Apesar dessa conjuntura acima apresentada, este Abaixo Assinado vem tratar de uma situação curiosa, surpreendente e triste: as recentes investidas contra a estabilidade desses programas e o caráter de seus líderes, onde o autor, Kaunteya Das, recém escolhido como candidato a representante do GBC para o Brasil, encontra-se lançando textos em nome de intenções duvidosas direcionadas para a implementação acelerada, agora também no Sul, de um novo modelo institucional, desconectado da priorização do conjunto das atividades essenciais descritas anteriormente.

Nossa humilde opinião é que a ISKCON precisa, antes de tudo, respeitar e proteger o direito inalienável de que templos e projetos optem por operar exclusivamente com o modelo tradicional instituído por Srila Prabhupada. Tal direito é irrefutável, garantido e intocável. 

Os líderes dos templos do Sul respeitam profundamente o princípio da "Unidade na Diversidade". Ao mesmo tempo reconhecem que cometem erros, e têm aspectos a serem melhorados. Porém, errar é natural e inevitável quando se enfrenta o risco da realização. "Só não erra quem não trabalha". Inclusive o novo modelo, por sua vez, apresenta muitos erros, sobre os quais não vamos tratar aqui.

O longo tempo de trabalho dos líderes do Sul sob a administração do novo modelo tem sido desgastante, contraproducente e prejudicial a ambos, bem como à pregação, à imagem da ISKCON e à paz e saúde institucionais, inclusive devido ao campo fértil para ofensas que inevitavelmente se proliferam. 

Portanto, o objetivo direto deste Abaixo Assinado é reunir apoio para que seja concedido aos líderes dos templos do Sul o seu direito simples de serem administrados localmente por um novo representante autorizado do GBC - brasileiro ou estrangeiro – de sua escolha, que se identifique e valorize profundamente o modelo tradicional de Srila Prabhupada, e que opere com uma nova estrutura administrativa local.

Tal ideia não é nova, a exemplo de outros locais no mundo, como os EUA e a Índia, que possuem mais de um GBC. É natural em países de dimensões continentais com uma realidade institucional diversa. Quanto ao Brasil, não estamos sozinhos: a ideia de um novo GBC exclusivamente para o Sul é apoiada por vários discípulos de Srila Prabhupada e muitos outros líderes e devotos seniores proeminentes do Brasil e do mundo, que entendem a necessidade de fronteiras saudáveis na ISKCON.

Quando isso for conquistado, os líderes dos templos do Sul continuarão trabalhando em cooperação com o restante da ISKCON Brasil, mas sob a autoridade direta de alguém que os represente, que lhes permita extrair o máximo de seu potencial, e que lhes ofereça inspiração, proteção e esperança institucional. Não existe intenção de deixar a ISKCON Brasil ou dividí-la, mas apenas reestruturá-la um pouco e potencializar sua eficiência. O espírito aqui não é separatista. Já que os modelos têm parâmetros diferentes, substituir a "imposição administrativa" pela "cooperação administrativa" faz todo sentido.

Há inúmeras outras formas produtivas e autorizadas de se trabalhar cooperativamente a nível nacional, com todos operando "a todo vapor", cada um à sua maneira. Inteligência e organização são os lemas aqui. A ISKCON só tem a ganhar, e os líderes do Sul já provaram seu valor, mantendo atividades essenciais da ISKCON com qualidade, estabilidade e responsabilidade já há mais de uma década, com resultados inegáveis. São devotos inteligentes, avançados e capazes. Não há nada mais a se exigir deles para dar-lhes um novo GBC.

Querido(a) leitor(a), este abaixo assinado não vem pedir sua oposição a Kaunteya Das ou ao novo modelo da ISKCON, e nem mesmo sua fidelidade e defesa ao programa do Sul. Sinceramente, não se trata disso. 

Pedimos simplesmente seu apoio para uma ISKCON melhor, para a construção de um futuro saudável para a casa de Srila Prabhupada, onde ela possa ser permeada por mais humildade e tolerância, atuando de forma mais lógica, justa e produtiva aos seus interesses puros.

Hare Krishna! Humble obeisances and greetings. We humbly ask for a few minutes of your time for this important cause. Thank you very much.

This is an initiative of a group of devotees from the congregations of the ISKCON temples and projects in Southern Brazil under the care of Hara Kanta Prabhu, namely: the urban temples of Curitiba, Florianópolis, Itajaí and Porto Alegre, the Gurukula (vedic school) and the Rural Community , both also in Curitiba. Hara Kanta Das Brahmacari Prabhu is a consacrated, senior devotee with over 40 years of leadership experience at ISKCON.

Inspired by the teachings, instructions and personal example of Srila Prabhupada, they have been guiding their activities for many years, with great success, in the institutional model idealized and established by our Acarya-Founder: support and appreciation of BBT and Srila Prabhupada's books, promoting its massive distribution (they distribute 45,000 books a year); the unrestricted distribution of Prasadam with the Food for Life program (they distribute 8,000 complete plates of food per month through daily open free meals at lunch); public chanting of the holy names of Krishna in the streets; development of temples as urban communities for monastic training of preachers and leaders and also as centers for receiving and nurturing the congregation; development of rural communities for dedicated families to live in; free daily classes and festivals open to the public where people can come and easily learn about Krishna. This is the essence.

As a result, they have developed a good public image over the years, participating in important interreligious associations, integrating the city's official religious tourist itinerary and receiving, in addition to visitors and tourists, guided tours by students and teachers of different student levels. This attitude also earned them several favorable reports in the press.

All of this represents a tangible, authorized and inestimable spiritual benefit to thousands and thousands of people over the years.

Despite the situation presented above, this Signed Petition deals with a curious, surprising and sad situation: the recent irresponsible attacks against the stability of these programs and the character of their leaders, where the author, Kaunteya Das, recently chosen as a candidate to represent the GBC for Brazil is launching texts in the name of dubious intentions aimed at the accelerated and invasive implementation, now also in the South, of a new institutional model, disconnected from the prioritization of the set of essential activities described above.

Our humble opinion is that ISKCON must, first and foremost, respect and protect the inalienable right for temples and projects to choose to operate exclusively under the traditional model instituted by Srila Prabhupada. Such a right is irrefutable, guaranteed and untouchable.

Southern temple leaders deeply respect the principle of "Unity in Diversity". At the same time, they recognize that they make mistakes, and have aspects to improve. However, making mistakes is natural and inevitable when facing the risk of realization. "Just don't make mistakes who doesn't work". Even the new model, in turn, has many errors, which we will not address here.

The long work of the leaders of the South Brazil under the national administration of the new model has been exhausting, counter-productive and harmful to both, as well as to the preaching, to the image of ISKCON and to institutional peace and health, including due to the fertile ground for offenses that inevitably proliferate.

Therefore, the direct objective of this Petition is to rally support so that the leaders of the temples of the South are granted their simple right to be managed locally by a new authorized GBC representative - Brazilian or foreign - of their choice, who identifies himself and deeply values Srila Prabhupada's traditional model, and operates with a new local administrative structure.

Such an idea is not new, like other places in the world, such as the US and India, which have more than one GBC. It is natural in countries of continental dimensions with a diverse institutional reality. As for Brazil, we are not alone: ​​the idea of ​​a new GBC exclusively for the South is supported by several disciples of Srila Prabhupada and many other prominent senior leaders and devotees from Brazil and the world, who understand the need for healthy boundaries at ISKCON.

Whith this acomplished, the leaders of the temples of the South Brazil will work in cooperation with the rest of ISKCON Brazil, but under the direct authority of someone who represents them, who allows them to extract the maximum of their potential, and who offers them inspiration, protection and institutional hope. There is no intention of leaving ISKCON Brazil or dividing it, but just restructuring it a little and enhancing its efficiency. The spirit here is not separatist. Since the models have such different parameters, replacing "administrative imposition" with "administrative cooperation" makes perfect sense.

There are countless other productive and authorized ways to work cooperatively nationally, with everyone operating "full steam ahead", each in their own way. Intelligence and organization are the mottos here. ISKCON can only win, and the leaders of the South have already proven their worth by maintaining essential ISKCON activities with quality, stability and responsability for more than a decade, with undeniable results. They are intelligent, advanced and capable devotees. There is nothing more to be required of them to give them a new GBC.

Dear reader, this Petition does not come to ask for your opposition to Kaunteya Das or the new ISKCON model, nor even your loyalty and defense to the South Brazil program. Honestly, it's not about that.

We simply ask for your support for a better ISKCON, to build a healthy future for Srila Prabhupada's house, where it can be permeated with more humility and tolerance, acting more logically, justly and productively in its pure interests.
